What is An Operating System? (OS)

OS stand for Operating System. An operating system is a program which provide a interface between the user of a computer and the computer hardware., and makes a computer for useable.
A computer system has many hardware and software resources. Operating system acts as the manager of these resources.                                               
Operating system is a resource manager who manages the hardware and software resources. A computer hardware not solve problems itself. Operating system control hardware and software by a
small chip called CPU
Simply OS is a Important part of a computer. Without OS a computer is a scrap only. OS programing is difficult from others programing. It require deep knowledge of hardware. OS programing more complex and provide a foundation for preparing application programs.
Some components of OS are following. Which discussed Later in Other Posts.
  • Hardware: It include memory , CPU, ALU, Storage devices, Input devices , output devices and peripheral devices etc. 
  • System Programs: System Programs include ,OS, Utilities, loaders, Editors and compilers etc.
  • Application Programs: Database, Business Apps, Text Processor and many others are included.
  • Users: Peoples and other related computers etc.
